Manchester United still in title race – Guardiola
Pep Guardiola has insisted that Manchester United are still in the hunt for the Premier League title.
Jose Mourinho’s side are 13 points behind Chelsea in the race to be crowned champions after an indifferent first half of the campaign.
The Red Devils have picked up in recent weeks, however, and are currently on a nine-game unbeaten run in England’s top flight.
Mourinho’s men will be expected to make it 10 when they host Middlesbrough on Saturday and Guardiola has not ruled them out of title picture.
He told reporters: “Six teams are fighting for the title. It will be a good fight until the end of the season.”
Manchester City, meanwhile, take on Liverpool at Anfield in Saturday’s late kick-off and Guardiola is anticipating a tough test against the Reds.
He added: “Liverpool are contenders [for the title], definitely. I was lucky enough to play against Jurgen Klopp, we know each other well.
“We have to equal their intensity – Anfield will play a big role.
“You cannot compare to what Liverpool and United did [in the 1980s and 90s]. Step by step, that’s the way to get better.”
